Blood-borne Infections
Sanquin is committed to provide pathogen-free products for transfusion and plasma-derived medical products. We study known, less known and (re)emerging blood-borne infections and related pathogens, to learn about potential consequences and advice about donor screening, donor deferral and donor eligibility.

Research lines
- Classical blood-borne pathogens: HIV, Hepatitis B, C and D Virus, Human T-cell Leukemia Virus and Treponema pallidum.
- Other blood-borne viruses: Hepatitis A and E virus, Parvovirus B19, Torque teno virus.
