If you need a blood transfusion, it might be desirable to use your own blood. In case of autologous blood donation you give - prior to your operation - blood for yourself a couple of times. An autologous blood donation is possible at Sanquin under certain circumstances, such as a planned operation. To qualify for an autologous blood donation, your doctor must submit a request at the blood bank.
