This talk will take the audience on a journey into the revolutionary impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in transfusion medicine and blood banking. In our field, where precision and timely decision-making are critical, AI emerges as a powerful tool! In a vein-to-vein approach, through the combined lenses of a blood center and a tertiary-care hospital-based transfusion service, this talk will explore the myriad ways AI is reshaping our field highlighting specific areas such as donor recruitment, inventory management, demand forecasting. personalized transfusions, and beyond. Risks associated with AI adoption, including ethical considerations and regulatory challenges. Finally, looking to the future, emerging trends & possibilities in AI-driven transfusion medicine will be discussed.
