Donate blood and save lives during working hours. Good job! | Philips
With an hour of your time, you can save 3 lives! Together with your company, Sanquin at Work is raising awareness for the need of blood donation. Make your workday even more productive and sign up right away!

1. Register
Complete the online questionnaire and register as a donor.
2. Medical check
After registration, you make an appointment for a medical check with a donation doctor.
I am already a donor

Are you already a donor? Let us know! This will tell us how many lives Philips has already saved. You can also sign up to become a blood donor ambassador for Philips; in this role you are asked to help us inform and inspire your colleagues about blood donation.
Safety first
Your safety comes first! Therefore, every time you donate, your blood is tested for infectious diseases, medical questions are asked in order to assess certain risks and your blood pressure, HB and ferritin value are measured. In this way, Sanquin prevents infected blood from being passed on, and it gives you as a blood donor extra information about your health.
More information on the blood test can be found at: (only Dutch) Sanquin bloedtest, and information about (healthy) blood pressure can be found at: (only Dutch) Sanquin bloeddruk.
After registering
When your registration as a blood donor is complete, you will be invited to donate blood. You can decide yourself at what time you come to the blood bank for donation. As Philips, we advise you to schedule your donation at the end of your workday to prevent reduced concentration.
Please be aware that when you still have to do physically or mentally demanding work that day, or you have a responsibility to behave and work safely; it is important that you do not schedule a blood draw until the end of the working day.
Flexibility is key
You can choose where to donate per donation: close to home or close to work. There are blood banks throughout the Netherlands. You will find the nearest blood bank here. We advise you to schedule your donation at the end of your workday, so you have enough time to recover, and reduced concentration is prevented.
As a Philips employee, you are allowed to donate blood during working hours. Register your donation time in workday, and use your ‘Volunteering Leave’ hours. Discuss your absence, if necessary, with your team members and your manager.
Philips will calculate 4 hours per donation, meaning you can donate twice per year during working hours. This means you help save 6 lives annually during working hours! Should you wish to donate more often than twice per year, then this is done in your own time.
For more questions and more information about the blood donation contact Sanquin. If you would like to speak to someone within Philips, please contact Marjolein Janssen (marjolein.janssen@philips.com)
