Quality control panels in patient blood typing and screening

Sanquin Blood Supply division Reagents offers several quality control panels for internal and external quality control in patient typing and screening.

The PeliControl whole blood samples are intended for use as patient samples for internal quality control procedures for checking ABO/Rh-D, as well as reverse blood typing and antibody screening.

PeliControl consists of 2 blood samples, each containing packed cells and control serum.  With these 2 tubes you will have a positive as well as a negative control for all mentioned tests. In addition, a separate control is available for checking rhesus phenotype and K blood grouping.

Pelicontrol is validated according to IVD standards and is CE marked. Validation is done for the manual tube method, for Diamed’s WA DIANA, for Ortho’s AUTOVUE and for Sanquin’s MAGISTER (Cellbind), but is also suitable for other systems after your own validation.

Proficiency panels

PeliCase 1 and PeliCase 2 consist of ‘patient’ red blood cells and ‘patient’ sera which will help the laboratory to develop and maintain skills in blood group serology procedures. These panels present case histories familiar to situations in your own laboratory.
The expected results for Pelicase 2 are included in a separate, closed envelope. The results for Pelicase 1 can be obtained from the website in PQS (Pelicase Quality Survey) in which you can also participate to compare your results with the other users.
