NATO x Sanquin: donate plasma and make a difference today!
Thank you for your interest in the collaboration between Nato and Sanquin.
The event on the 13th of June has already taken place. It is no longer possible to participate.

Good to know
- Donating blood or plasma is completely voluntary. NATO works together with Sanquin to inspire you to become a donor to support the host nation and the local population.
- In this collaboration, you register as a plasma donor. Your plasma will be used to create therapies and medicines that treat a variety of conditions and diseases, for thousands of patients each year.
- In the Netherlands, new donors normally travel to the blood bank for their medical check. Especially for NATO, your medical check is now scheduled at Camp Hendrik on Thursday 13th of June .
- You can choose your own time frame in which you will be scheduled, at the end of the online questionnaire at registration.
- You can help us by being flexible on this day, so that we can garantuee to check every new donor at NATO.
- Prior to your visit: bring your personal invitation and ID with you.
- If your medical check turns out well, you officially become a donor. As a plasma donor, you can either make your own appointment at one of the regional blood banks or, if enough personnel from Camp Hendrik is registered, JLSG can facilitate by providing common transport and fixed timeslots for NATO personnel at the blood bank in Heerlen.
- For questions about the collaboration between NATO and Sanquin, you can e-mail jlsgbsopsmed@jlsgbs.nato.int (NU or NS)
- For questions about giving plasma, you can read this page or contact Sanquin's donor information line: 088-730 8686.
4 good reasons to become a plasma donor:
- Saving Lives: One in four people will need blood or plasma at some point to survive, recover, or prevent illness. As a plasma donor, you have a significant impact on the lives of individuals such as patients with certain genetic blood disorders and patients with severe burns.
- Personal Satisfaction: Donating blood or plasma means doing something good for others. Knowing that you have a positive impact on the lives of others can be very satisfying.
- Health Check: As a donor, you undergo a brief medical examination with each donation. It's a bonus that as a donor, you regularly gain insight into your own health.
- Maintaining Blood Supply: In the event of disasters and emergencies, there is often an urgent need for blood. By regularly donating plasma, you contribute to the plasma supply available to respond quickly to emergencies and provide care to people in need.
We are always looking for fresh blood and plasma!
Hundreds of people in the Netherlands need blood or medicine made of plasma every day. Are you healthy, do you feel fit and would you like to do something for someone else? Register now as a plasma donor!
(If you prefer becoming a blood donor, you are being called upon when your blood type is needed. In this case it is not possible to join the plasma donors at the same appointment in Heerlen, with exceptions for those with a rare blood type.)

Colonel Johan Poncia, COS JLSGBS HQ: As the JLSGBS Headquarter, we are not only part of the NATO family, but we are also embedded in the local community. It is therefore that the JLSGBS HQ gladly supports the plasma donation campaign run by Sanquin.

I thank my life to donors
"During my deployment in Afghanistan, I lost my legs due to a bomb. Without the 129 bags of blood from Sanquin, I would not be alive anymore."
