Abstract
Silvia earned her Ph.D. degree at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, and did postdoctoral studies at the Randall Institute, King’s College London and the Center for Blood Research, Harvard Medical School in Boston. Her studies aimed at understanding the mechanisms of regulation of cytokine transcription in T lymphocytes and mast cells. In 2007 she joined the IRB as Group Leader. Silvia works on various aspects of immunological processes, primarily focussing on the regulation of T lymphocyte and mast cell function through transcriptional and post-transcriptional mechanisms. This includes the role of transcription factors, microRNAs as well as epigenetic modifications such as methylation of the genomic DNA. She recently also studied FC-receptor like molecules.
