Every donor is a hero

Every year we reflect on the importance of donating blood across the globe on World Blood Donor Day. This day is 14 June, the birthday of Nobel prize winner Karl Landsteiner, who discovered blood groups in 1900. Every country celebrates this day in its own way.

In the documercial, nine-time Dutch figure skating champion Karen Venhuizen talks about why blood donors are real heroes for her. When she was ill she was administered medications made from plasma. She was able to recuperate thanks in large part to these medications.
