Can I give blood after visiting abroad?

Abu Dhabi

An infectious disease is present in this country. If you have visited, you may donate blood or plasma again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.

Afghanistan

An infectious disease is present in this country. If you have visited, you may donate blood again 1 year after returning to the Netherlands. Plasma donors can donate again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.

Albania

An infectious disease is present in this country. If you have visited in the months May to November, you may donate blood again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.

This is due to the presence of the West-Nile Virus. This virus is spread by contaminated mosquitoes. Plasma donors may continue to donate plasma. This is because the plasma is processed so that the virus cannot be transmitted via plasma. 

Algeria

An infectious disease is present in the southern provinces of this country for the entire year. If you have visited, you may donate blood again 6 months after returning to the Netherlands. Plasma donors can donate again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.

If you have visited the other provinces of Algeria, you may donate blood or plasma again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.

American Samoa

An infectious disease is present in this country. If you have visited, you may donate blood or plasma again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.  

Andorra

You may donate blood or plasma again after visiting.

Angola

An infectious disease is present in this country for the entire year. If you have visited, you may donate blood again 6 months after returning to the Netherlands. Plasma donors can donate again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.

Anguilla

An infectious disease is present in this country. If you have visited, you may donate blood or plasma again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation. 

Antigua & Barbuda

An infectious disease is present in this country. If you have visited, you may donate blood or plasma again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation. 

Argentina

An infectious disease is present in this country for the entire year along the borders with Bolivia and Paraguay (the Oran and San Martin departments and Salta province) and in Corrientes en Misiones province, with exception to the area surrounding Iguazu falls. If you have visited, you may donate blood again 6 months after returning to the Netherlands. Plasma donors can donate again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.

Armenia

Aruba

Australia

Austria

An infectious disease is present in the provinces of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. If you have visited in the months May to November, you may donate blood again 4 weeks after returning to the Netherlands. Please notify the Blood Bank (0800-5115) so we know when we can send you a new invitation.
