Fewer anti-D injections required for pregnant women

During the 12th week of pregnancy, pregnant women are given a blood test. Each year, 27,000 women are found to be Rhesus negative. These women are given a so-called anti-D injection. The anti-D injection is administered to make sure no antibodies against the unborn child are created (rhesus disease).
