Novel regulators of megakaryopoiesis and platelet formation.
Platelets are derived from mature megakaryocytes and a crucial component for hemostasis. Imbalances and alterations in the differentiation process of megakaryocytes can lead to disturbed platelet function and severe illnesses. The aim of this project is to characterize genes putatively regulated by the megakaryocyte-specific transcription factor MEIS1 and elucidate their function in megakaryopoiesis and platelet formation. - Technology
