Transfusion Medicine

The department of Transfusion Medicine encompasses randomized controlled clinical trials, observational studies and translational studies.

The main mission of the department of Transfusion Medicine is to support clinicians with evidence-based answers to questions regarding transfusion management. For this purpose randomized controlled trials and observational studies are used. Within clinical studies for the understanding of intended and unintended transfusion effects, translational research studies are performed.

Most of the clinical studies of the department are part of the Joint Sanquin - Leiden University Medical Center Jon J van Rood Center for Clinical Transfusion Research.
