Blood-borne Infections
On November 1st 2008, the Sanquin department for the study of Blood-borne Infections (BOI) came into existence. The department focuses on the one hand on epidemiology of (emerging) blood-borne infections in the donor population, and on the other hand on applied laboratory research on blood-borne infections and on development of tests for blood-borne pathogens. The latter takes place in close collaboration with the Department of Virus Diagnostics (Sanquin Diagnostic Services).
