Academic affiliations
Our researchers collaborate with research groups from all over the world. In the Netherlands we have a number of offcial collaborations with universities. Some are dating back to the middle of the last century.
Joint AMC – Sanquin Landsteiner Laboratory | |
| Historically there is a strong collaboration with the Academic Medical Center (AMC) of the University of Amsterdam. The joint AMC – Sanquin Landsteiner Laboratory is mainly housed within Sanquin premises. Through this collaboration Sanquin staff members participate in research programs and curricula of the AMC. Researchers of Sanquin contribute to the research programs of the Center for Immunology Amsterdam (CIA) and the Center for Infection and Immunity Amsterdam (CINIMA) focusing on immunology, (immuno)hematology, and blood-borne infections. |

The Jon J van Rood National Center for Clinical Transfusion Science a joint collaboration between Sanquin and the Leiden University Medical Centre. This already long standing collaboration is focused on translational, clinical and epidemiological studies in the field of blood transfusion medicine. The Centre is involved in training for medical specialists on blood transfusion medicine. Within the Jon J van Rood Centre, the Department of Clinical Transfusion Medicine of Sanquin Research collaborates closely with the departments of Clinical Epidemiology and Immunohematology & Blood Bank of Leiden University Medical Centre. Various clinical departments of this university hospital are involved in a number of clinically relevant studies and clinical trials in the field of blood transfusion medicine. |

Joint Sanquin – Julius Center Transfusion Technology Assessment Unit |

Within Utrecht University’s Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care the joint Transfusion Technology Assessment Unit focuses on cost effectiveness models and risk analyses of the blood transfusion chain. The unit is embedded in the research department of Technology Assessment. The Julius Center is part of the University Medical Center Utrecht. |

Rembrandt Institute for Cardiovascular Sciences | |

The Rembrandt Institute for Cardiovascular Sciences is a collaboration of various research departments of the Leiden University Medical Centre, both Amsterdam University Hospitals (Academic Medical Centre, Vrije Universiteit Medical Center), the Science Faculty of the University of Amsterdam, and Sanquin, focussing on cardiovascular research, from basic to clinical studies. The Rembrandt Institute was founded in 2011. |
