Magister
Magister is a fully automated system that performs all routine testing procedures for blood group serology testing automatically. The system is designed to utilize Cellbind cards in combination with reagents from Sanquin.
Applications
With one universal Cellbind card all types of serology testing can be performed:
• blood group typing
• cross-matching
• DAT
• antibody screening
• antibody identification
The Cellbind Screen assay is a micro column immunofixation test system in which sensitized red cells from a suspension will bind to a gel matrix containing immobilized protein G, anti-IgM, and anti-C3d.
Principle
The Magister is a fully automated system to handle Cellbind micro column cards for blood group typing, cross matching, antibody screening and antibody identification as well as the direct anti globulin test.
During the incubation phase antigen-positive red cells will bind the corresponding red cell antibodies present in the plasma, serum or reagent.
Next, the cards are subjected to three phases of centrifugation. In the first phase the high-density medium will cause separation of the red cells from the plasma, serum or reagent and binding to the ligands.
In the second phase sensitized and bound red cells (3-dimensional network) are compressed into aggregates during landing on the surface of the gel, while in the third phase non-sensitized will move towards the bottom of the micro column.
