Collaboration

Sanquin’s collaborations in regenerative & immuno therapy:

AMC

The department of Hematology of the AMC obtains (stem) cell products from the laboratory for Stem Cell Transplantation (SCL) for patient care. Furthermore the SCL participates in HOVON studies that are carried out in the AMC.
The department of Gastroenterology collaborates with the department of Immunpathology of Sanquin in the development of dendritic cell vaccines for the treatment of patients with oesophageal adenocarcinoma. The SCL is involved in the translation of the research protocol into a c-GMP grade clinical protocol.

Emma Children’s Hospital-AMC

The department of Hematology of the Emma Children’s Hospital obtains (stem) cell products from the laboratory for Stem Cell Transplantation (SCL) for patient care.

NKI/AvL

The department Medical Oncology of the AvL obtains (stem) cell products from the laboratory for Stem Cell Transplantation (SCL) for patient care.
Within the department of Immunology of the Netherlands Cancer Institutes several trials on T-cell Immunotherapy are conducted by the group of Prof Ton Schumacher together with Dr. John Haanen from the AvL.
The SCL of Sanquin is involved in the cryopreservation and quality control assays on T-cells for these trials.

Radboud University Nijmegen

The department of Tumor Immunology, headed by Carl Figdor, performs clinical trials in which cancer patients are vaccinated with dendritic cells (DCs).
The department of Immunopathology and the Laboratory of Stem cell Transplantation of Sanquin collaborate with the group of Carl Figdor on the production and optimization of DC vaccines.

VUmc/DCPrime

In this validation project, funded by the LSCA, Sanquin and DCPrime will combine their expertise and validate whether Sanquin’s patented technology on DC maturation & migration (WO2007078196) is applicable to off-the-shelf DCs from DCPrime to optimally exploit their technology platforms.

LUMC

Within the department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion of the LUMC clinical trials are conducted with mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) to treat various types of diseases. The Laboratory for Stem Cell Transplantation of Sanquin will collaborate on the production of MSCs for the treatment of patients suffering from steroid-resistant Graft versus Host Disease.
